OVERVIEW:

The tie rod end serves the key purpose of providing adequate force for vehicular tires to move forwards and backwards, thereby impacting the stability of control, safety, and tire lifespan. Upon contact with an uneven surface, the tire will impact the rack end, however the tie rod end is still able to carry out its lateral and vertical direction responsibilities.

USES:

Tie rods and tie rod end ball joints are what connect the steering rack gearbox to the steering knuckles so the turning input from the driver makes its way to the wheels. Tie rods thread onto the steering rack to also allow for steering alignment adjustments to be made.
